Kn0wles, Gr0enefeld win mixed d0ubles (AP)

WIMBLEDON, England (AP)—Mark Knowles of the state and Anna-Lena Groenefeld of FRG won the integrated doubles titles at suburbia on Sun by beating top-seeded Leander Paes of Bharat and Cara Negroid of Rhodesia 7-5, 6-3.

Knowles has won the men’s doubles titles at the another threesome Grand Slam tournaments, but he had never before won at Wimbledon.

“I’ve ever desired to get Wimbledon. It’s the most essential competition in my mind,” Knowles said. “Like everybody, it’s the competition we every countenance up to. It’s extremely special.”
